Long Day Care

Long day care is provided across 4 rooms including the Kinder Room, for children aged between 6 weeks of age through to 5 years.

Room 1

Room 1 caters for up to 8 children aged between 6wks-24mths, cared for by two qualified Educators. Upon enrolment, families are given routine forms to complete which help us gain knowledge and understanding about each baby’s individual care needs. Educators follow home sleep and feeding routines, and meet with families regularly as routines change. Room 1 has a separate sleep room with kitchenette, and its own natural outdoor play space.

Through warm responsive interactions, consistent care routines, and strong family partnerships, our Educators create a sense of security for our littlest learners. Play-based and relationship-rich learning environments support children’s progress through various milestones and play schemas, inspired by a wide range of open-ended resources, sensory experiences, and physical challenges.

Room 2

Room 2 caters for up to 8 children aged 2-3 years, cared for by two qualified Educators.

Stimulating learning environments ensure our inquisitive and energetic toddlers are engaged in play and learning through lots of hands-on experiences and social interactions. Educators value daily transitions such as meal times, rest times, and group experiences as valuable opportunities for children to practice new skills, develop independence, make choices, and enjoy a sense of community.

Room 3

Room 3 caters for up to 15 children cared for by two qualified Educators. The children share a large outdoor play and learning space with children from Room 2 and the Kinder Room.

Educators support an emergent curriculum reflecting the skills, needs, interests, strengths and cultural identities of each child. Integrated teaching approaches, planned group experiences, and more sophisticated social interactions provide opportunities for children to extend on their language and communication skills, engage in collaborative play and learning, and further explore literacy and numeracy concepts.

Kinder Room

The Kinder Room provides long day care for children aged 4-5 years and concurrently runs a funded 4-year-old Kindergarten program (15 hours per week) and a funded 3-year-old Kindergarten program (5 hours per week) delivered by an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) and Bachelor-qualified Educator.

Children have access to stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments including beautifully-landscaped gardens that support respect for the environment, physical activity and movement, social engagement, and opportunities for risky play and sensory exploration integrated within a mixed-age learning community. The Kinder children currently participate in an AUSLAN language program (Tuesdays) and The Resilience Project. There are opportunities to engage with the broader community through excursions and centre events – in recent years, this has included sessions with Drama Toolbox, Little Bang Science Discovery Program, Wild Action: Australian Animals, Museum: Dinosaur Fossils, Nature Play the Wurundjeri way, and cultural sessions with Sandra Barber (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta).

Funded Kindergarten (3-year-old and 4-year-old programs)

The Kinder Room concurrently runs a funded 4-year-old Kindergarten program (15 hours per week) and 3-year-old Kindergarten program (5 hours per week) delivered by an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) and Bachelor-qualified Educator. Our Kinder teaching team have several years of experience in the field.

Our 3-year-old and 4-year-old funded Kindergarten programs provide further opportunities for children to practice and consolidate a wide range of learning dispositions and processes, extend on existing skills, and broaden their understanding of the world. Educators implement a range of intentional teaching strategies to support school readiness, with children enjoying opportunities to problem-solve, challenge themselves, and extend on literacy, numeracy and communication skills. The curriculum reflects a strong commitment to social and emotional wellbeing, with a focus on building resilience, empathy, independence, and respect for diversity.

Our funded Kinder programs operate under the same educational and quality frameworks as council run Kindergartens and private school-based early learning centres. The difference is we operate from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, are open 50 weeks of the year, and cater for all family and work situations.

Children can be enrolled in the 4-year-old Kindergarten program if they have turned four years of age by 30th April in the year they will attend. The 4-year-old Kindergarten program operates from 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday during school terms. Outside these hours, children may attend the long day care program in the Kinder Room.

Children can be enrolled in the 3-year-old Kindergarten program if they have turned three years of age by 30th April in the year they will attend. The 3-year old Kindergarten program runs on a rotational model, with children attending the Kinder Room for 5 hours per week. Outside these hours, children may attend the long day care program in Room 3.

Fees are as per the centre’s fee schedule for daily or weekly care. There is no additional cost for children attending the Kindergarten program.
